Fabulous place to eat! The views are incredible, the service is excellent and the food is delicious. Large portions, bring your appetite! The lunch specials are reasonably priced but the portions are big. The meatloaf is moist and flavorful. The fried mushrooms, in a light batter, are a must. I don't remember the chicken dish by name, but it was perfect. I can't wait until my next trip to Arkansas! This place will be on my list of places I have to go.
Overview
Discover The River Waterfront Steak & Grill, a scenic American steakhouse at 50 Riverbank Rd, Batesville, AR 72501, United States, overlooking the White River. Combining steaks, seafood, burgers, Southern comfort food, and a full bar with one of the more memorable dining views in town, this restaurant is built as much around its riverside setting as its menu. From a food blogger’s perspective, The River Waterfront Steak & Grill is best suited to relaxed lunches, sunset dinners, family meals, and casual celebrations where atmosphere matters alongside hearty food.
The menu spans American steakhouse and pub-style favorites, including ribeye steaks, catfish, burgers, pulled pork, pasta, crab cakes, salads, sandwiches, and appetizers. Current restaurant listings place it in the moderate $$ category. Diners can expect outdoor seating, a full bar, Wi-Fi, private dining, takeaway, reservations, free parking, wheelchair-accessible facilities, high chairs, and a kids’ menu. Pet-friendly dining is also noted by current local listings.
A natural first choice at The River Waterfront Steak & Grill in Batesville is the Ribeye Steak. Customer feedback praises well-prepared versions for their generous size and proper grilling, with one diner specifically describing a ribeye as perfectly cooked medium. Adding au jus and mashed potatoes can make the plate even richer and more satisfying. Steak consistency has occasionally drawn criticism, however, so diners particular about doneness may want to state their preference clearly when ordering.
The BBQ Chicken Nachos are another standout, repeatedly highlighted as one of the more successful dishes. Loaded with smoky barbecue flavors and built for sharing, they suit the restaurant’s relaxed waterfront atmosphere particularly well. For something more traditionally Southern, the Fried Catfish is worth considering. A December 2025 customer praised the fish for arriving hot with flavorful breading, accompanied by hush puppies.
Customer reactions show why the setting is an important decision factor. One March 2025 guest praised the “stunning sunset views, delicious food” and friendly service, while another diner highlighted large portions, flavorful meatloaf, and crisp fried mushrooms. On the other hand, several guests have reported slow service or uneven food quality during certain visits, suggesting the experience can vary when the restaurant is busy.
The atmosphere at The River Waterfront Steak & Grill is casual, cozy, and defined by the river. Outdoor tables and sunset views create a distinctive setting, while the spacious layout works well for larger groups. Cocktails, beer, wine, and occasional live entertainment give evenings additional energy.
For diners comparing the best restaurants in Batesville for memorable local dining experiences, The River Waterfront Steak & Grill deserves consideration for its river views, steaks, catfish, generous portions, and relaxed Arkansas hospitality. Being by the water was really cool, and the service was really good. The food was good, but I would not say great. However, ordering A’jus with the steak that I had and mashed potatoes really made it taste quite good. Do not order the artichoke dip and chips. The chips were excellent, but the artichoke dip was dry. My friend had the hamburger and he said it was solid and another person had the loaded grilled cheese and they said it was fantastic. So you got some options with all kinds of variety of food. This place really does accommodate big parties so that is a real bonus.
We were there about 12:30 on a Thursday. Everything was outstanding! I agree it’s a bit pricey but for us it will be a treat restaurant we definitely will go back to. We live in Searcy so it’s a little jaunt for us. But what a great surprise. Loved the atmosphere too! We were not that hungry so we just got 3 appetizers and tax and all it was $30.
Great place to eat. Food was very good! Atmosphere and setting was top notch! Highly recommend!
